AYN Order Tracking, Customs and Import Fees: Odin 3 and Thor
Know what your checkout total covers
Ordering an Odin 3 or Thor internationally can involve more than the device price and shipping charge. Depending on your destination and the shipping arrangement, you may owe import tax, customs duty, or a courier clearance fee before delivery.
Do not assume that paid shipping means taxes are included. Check your order confirmation and the shipping terms that applied when you ordered. If the wording is unclear, ask the seller whether destination taxes and duties were prepaid and whether the courier can charge a separate handling fee.

What import charges can include
These charges are different, even when a courier combines them into one bill:
- Import VAT, GST, or sales tax: Applied according to your destination’s rules. The taxable amount may include shipping, insurance, and duty—not just the handheld’s price.
- Customs duty: Depends on local tariff classification, origin, value, and any applicable exemptions. A handheld is not automatically duty-free everywhere.
- Clearance or brokerage fees: Charges for processing an import declaration.
- Disbursement or advancement fees: Charges when a courier pays taxes or duty on your behalf and then collects the money from you.
Thresholds, rates, and exemptions vary by country and can change. For an estimate, use your destination’s customs authority guidance and the courier’s published fee schedule. Another owner’s bill is only a rough reference, especially if their country, order value, or shipping service differs.
Keep your order confirmation, invoice, payment receipt, and any evidence of tax paid at checkout. These help resolve valuation questions or apparent duplicate charges.
Read tracking as a sequence, not a countdown
Tracking wording differs between carriers, but common stages include:
- Label created or shipment information received: A shipping record exists. This does not necessarily mean the carrier has received the parcel.
- Accepted or picked up: The carrier has recorded possession of the shipment.
- Export processing or international transit: The parcel is moving through the origin network or between countries. Updates may be sparse.
- Customs clearance: Import information is being reviewed. This does not always mean a physical inspection or a payment requirement.
- Released and transferred locally: Customs processing has finished, but sorting or a last-mile handoff may still be pending.
- Out for delivery: A delivery attempt is expected, although routes and operational issues can change that.
A gap between scans is not proof that a parcel is lost. Conversely, an estimated delivery date is not a guarantee. Pay attention to requests for information, exception notices, and deadlines rather than refreshing the map repeatedly.
Track through the right carrier
Start with the tracking number in your shipping confirmation. Check it directly through the named carrier’s website or app rather than relying solely on an order-status page or tracking aggregator.
For shipments handed to another delivery company:
- Look for a local tracking number or delivery-partner name.
- Check both carriers during the handoff; their updates may appear at different times.
- Confirm that your delivery address and contact details are correct through the seller or an authenticated carrier channel.
- Save the tracking number and relevant status screenshots if a problem develops.
A tracker’s location can describe a processing hub rather than the parcel’s precise position. Repeated scans at one facility do not, by themselves, identify the cause of a delay.
Handle customs requests safely
Customs or a courier may request an invoice, proof of payment, identification, or a local tax identifier. Requirements vary by destination. Provide only what is required, using a verified submission channel.
Delivery-fee scams often arrive while people are expecting parcels. Before paying:
- Open the carrier’s service independently instead of following an unexpected message link.
- Confirm the tracking number and that a payment request appears through a verified channel.
- Ask for an itemized breakdown of tax, duty, and courier fees if the amount is unclear.
- Compare the request with your checkout records if you already paid import taxes.
Do not request a false value or gift declaration. Incorrect declarations can create penalties, delays, and insurance complications.
When to contact the seller or courier
Contact the seller when shipment information remains at label-created status beyond the communicated dispatch window, the tracking number appears incorrect, or you need an invoice or clarification of prepaid taxes.
Contact the carrier when tracking requests action, shows an address problem, or records an unexpected delivery attempt. Ask what is needed and whether any response or storage deadline applies.
If tracking says delivered but you cannot find the parcel, check the delivery photo, safe places, household members, and reception desk, then report it promptly to both carrier and seller. Keep written records; investigation and claim deadlines vary.
Do not assume refusing a fee automatically produces a full refund. Return shipping, storage, and refund consequences depend on the circumstances and applicable terms.
