Start with evidence, not customization

A quick arrival inspection can help you spot shipping damage, missing items, or hardware faults before installing games and changing settings. For Odin 3 and Thor owners, the goal is simple: confirm that the device matches your order, works normally, and has no obvious physical defects.

AYNTime Community is an independent knowledge base, not affiliated with AYN. Package contents, software menus, and support procedures can vary — check your order details and the seller’s current instructions.

1. Check the parcel before opening

  • Photograph the shipping label and every side of the parcel, especially crushed corners, punctures, moisture marks, or disturbed tape.
  • Keep identifying details private when sharing photos publicly. Shipping labels can expose your address, phone number, and tracking number.
  • If the parcel is visibly damaged, document it before removing the wrapping. Follow any applicable carrier or seller reporting procedure promptly.
  • Consider recording one continuous unboxing video showing the parcel, device, and included items. It may help establish what arrived, but do not assume a video is required or guarantees a claim.

Keep the carton, protective inserts, bags, and accessories until you have finished testing and resolved any concerns.

2. Match the contents to your order

Compare the device and accessories with your purchase confirmation rather than someone else’s unboxing. Bundles and separately purchased extras may differ.

  • Confirm the model, color, and ordered configuration using packaging labels and available device information.
  • Check that any case, cable, charger, or other accessory listed in your order is present.
  • Photograph serial-number labels for your records, without posting them publicly.
  • Note discrepancies before discarding packaging or mixing the contents with accessories you already own.

Storage figures shown in Android may be lower than the advertised capacity because of formatting, system files, and differences in how capacity is reported. A smaller available-space figure alone does not establish that the wrong configuration arrived.

3. Inspect the body and, on Thor, the hinge

With the device powered off, use good room lighting to inspect the shell, display surfaces, controls, and ports.

Look for cracks, deep scratches, separated seams, loose port surrounds, or anything protruding into a connector. Do not insert tools into ports or peel away anything unless you are sure it is removable packaging rather than a fitted protector or device component.

For Thor, gently open and close the lid through its normal range. Check for smooth movement, visible hinge damage, and interference between the halves. Do not force it farther open or repeatedly flex it to investigate a noise. Some movement or sound may be harmless; grinding, binding, or a visibly separating hinge deserves documentation and a support inquiry.

Stop using or charging the device if you see swelling, smoke, leakage, or signs of serious battery damage. Do not press a lifted panel back into place.

4. Boot and inspect the displays

If the device arrived cold, let it reach room temperature in a dry environment before powering it on or charging. If there is condensation, wait until it is fully dry.

Complete only enough setup to reach the interface. Before installing updates, record the software information shown in settings so you have a baseline.

  • Display plain light, dark, and colored backgrounds at moderate brightness.
  • Look for persistent dots, lines, unusual blotches, flickering, or areas that remain dark.
  • On Thor, inspect both displays separately.
  • Test touch input across each touchscreen, including the edges, by slowly dragging an icon or drawing in a suitable app.

Clean apparent marks gently with a clean microfiber cloth before judging them. Reflections and surface debris can resemble defects. Camera banding is not necessarily visible display flicker, and photos can exaggerate unevenness. Record what you can actually see under normal viewing conditions.

5. Test every control and basic function

Use a built-in controller test if available, or a reputable input-testing app. Menu names and included tools can vary by firmware — check your own device.

  • Press each button individually and check that it registers and releases.
  • Test the D-pad in all directions, including diagonals.
  • Rotate both sticks slowly, release them, and check for repeatable unwanted movement at rest.
  • Test triggers through their travel, plus stick clicks where applicable.
  • Check volume and power buttons without forcing or repeatedly holding them.

Then check speakers at a sensible volume, connect to Wi-Fi, and briefly test Bluetooth with a known-working accessory if available. Check headphone audio and removable storage only if those features and suitable accessories are available.

Connect a compatible, known-good charger and cable without forcing the connector. Confirm that charging is indicated. A brief, repeatable game or app session can reveal crashes or unusual behavior, but an arrival inspection does not require a maximum-load stress test.

6. Record problems before troubleshooting deeply

For any concern, save a clear photo or short video, the software version, and the steps that reproduce it. Note whether it happens every time and whether an accessory is involved.

Contact the seller promptly about damage, missing items, or repeatable faults. Check applicable reporting and return deadlines. Avoid opening the shell, applying unofficial firmware, or attempting repairs before seeking guidance.
